Students in Mr. Walker’s 8th grade technology education
classes recently completed their bridge projects. This unit was designed to
introduce students to the field of engineering and design. While working in groups, the students were
required to build the strongest bridge they could using only paper and tape.
The students’ skills were really put to test as they were also working under
time and budget constraints. After the testing was complete the winner in first
hour was John Courson. His bridge held 13 pounds. In 6th hour there was a tie. The
winners were Josh Karberg, Tim Borawski and Breaunna Tuter their bridges held
15 pounds. All the teams did a great
job. Could any future engineers come out of these classes? Only time will tell.
