Our Newest American Citizen

On April 3, 2013 Ortenc became an American citizen.  Ortenc and his family moved to the USA in September 2001 from Albania.  His parents both became US citizens when he was in 4th grade.  Ortenc said he is happy to say he is an American now.

Love

The final day of Truman's Hands Together Against Bullying and Self-Harm week is Love.  Students were encouraged to write "Love" on their hands.

Thursday was the Semi-colon project.  Students drew a semi-colon on their hand as a reminder that they have the power to continue.

Hands Together Against Bullying and Self-Harm

This week Truman student leadership is sponsoring a spirit week called "Hands Together Against Bullying and Self-Harm"

Monday was the "Butterfly Project" where students drew butterflies on their hands to remind them that little events can make a big impact on those around us.


Tuesday was "Love is Louder than the Pressure to be Perfect."






Summer Reading Program Comes to Truman

A representative from the St. Louis County Library was at Truman on April 22 to encourage students to sign up for the summer reading program they sponsor.  There was also a volunteer sign up for students interested in volunteering at a local library. The 2013 Teen Summer Reading Program begins May 13 but you can click on the reading program link to sign up today!  There is also a reading program for adults during the summer with sign ups beginning May 13.

Truman's Lindy Awards

Truman hosted its first ever Lindy Awards on April 11, 2013. Flyer Time classes submitted videos which they created to inspire the student population to do their best on the upcoming MAP tests. The videos were then watched and voted on by the entire student body. The guests arrived on the "green carpet" and enjoyed appearances from some popular stars. Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Cleopatra, Curious George and others were introduced by co-hosts Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon.
