Truman Ribbon Cutting

Truman Middle School held its ribbon cutting ceremony today.  We had many distinguished guest here to see the improvements made to our school to fit the middle school age curriculum. 
 Members from the school board, the construction company who made the improvements, as well as Dr. Tiller and current students helped to cut the ribbon.
 Dr. Vic Lenz, the last principal from when Truman was a middle school, gave Dr. Tiller, our present day principle some memorabilia from his days at Truman.

Flyer Time Door Decorating Contest

Truman Flyer Time hosted a Halloween Door Decorating contest.  Mr. Snyder's class won but all the doors were very creative.

Book Fair

Truman held its first Book Fair this October.  There were many great books to choose from to add to your personal library.
 Ms. Stanford requested this unsuspecting shopper to pose with a Justin Bieber book.  She was a very impressive actress/model.

Wednesday, October 26th-Crazy Hair: Never go crazy with drugs (come with the craziest hair style you can)

Thursday, October 27th-/Favorite Decade: Sport a drug-free look from long ago (dress in the style of your favorite decade)

GETTING TO KNOW YOU~CARLA AVERY

Meet Carla Avery
Mrs. Avery is the Digital Literacy teacher at Truman.  She has previously taught for 24  years at Sperreng.  She received her BS from University of Nebraska and her MA from Webster.
Mrs. Avery and her husband Steve have 2 daughters, Lucy who is a junior at LHS and Carson who is a 7th grader at Truman. 
She loves reading and her favorite book is The Hobbit. She also likes going to concerts and gardening.  Her favorite type of food is Mexican so it's no surprise that her favorite restaurant is Chimichanga.  Mrs. Avery's favorite sports team is the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Dr. Morgan is our Assistant Principal at Truman.  He has been in education for 16 years, working at Lee's Summit-Campbell Middle School, Marquette High School, Francis Howell North, was a Special Education teacher and a coach.  He received his BS and MS in Education at Central Missouri State and his Doctorate and SLU.
Dr. Morgan is married to his wife Stacy and they have 2 children, Carter who is 9 and Libby who is 6.  He likes to work out, lift weights and run.  He likes all sports and history.  He says his favorite book is the Bible and he likes to eat anything his mom cooks.  His favorite sports are baseball and football. 
His pet peeves are negative people and wrinkled clothes.  He also said he started losing his hair when he was 20.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU~ KRISTIN SIEBERT

Meet Kristin Siebert
Mrs. Siebert is an 8th grade science teacher.  This is her 6th year teaching with her 5 previous years being at Sperreng.  Kristin got her Bachelors degree from Truman State University in Exercise Science and her Masters at Webster University in Multi-disciplinary Studies. 
Mrs. Siebert and her husband Nick are expecting their son, Ryan any day now.  They also have a beagle named Kujo.  She loves spending time with her family and friends and spending time outdoors.  Her favorite food is pizza.

Flyer Time

What is Flyer Time?  It is a weekly community class where students from 6th, 7th and 8th grade meet to be part of a smaller group outside their specific grade level.  The Flyer Time classes meet and work on community service projects. 



 This class is brain storming to come up with a service project they will plan and implement.
