Marshall the Miracle Dog

Truman 6th grade students participated in a program that featured Marshall, a dog adopted from the Humane Society of Missouri.  Marshall along with his owner, Cyndi met with the students to teach them about empathy, peer pressure and courage.  Mrs. Richards who is responsible for the character education at Lindbergh had students from the high school as well as Truman Flight Crew members present a video to the classrooms and discussed some of the issues that relate to Marshall and how it correlates to things happening in their lives.
Fox 2 News was on hand to broadcast how this new pilot program which is a combined effort with Lindbergh and Ladue schools is working.

Honor Flight

Today we had a speaker from the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight Organization.  Mr. Battram talked about the importance of the program and the emotional experience the Honor Flight is for the veterans who experience it.  He told the group of students how they can get involved from helping to raise funds to just spreading the word about the program.

Little Patriots Embraced

Mrs. Badino's Flyer Time class had a representative from Little Patriots Embraced come and talk to students about their program.  Little Patriots Embraced is a program to help the families of the men and women in the military.  Mrs. Badino's also presented a check to the organization from funds they raised by selling candy.

Science Olympiad

Our Science O team represented TMS at the regional Science Olympiad tournament at Ladue Middle School. They've been working since October to prepare for 23 events, then the day runs kind of like a track meet - everyone competing in their own events.  It requires a lot of focus, scientific knowledge and studying - all outside of the classroom!  Our team came in 6th out of 18 teams (just one spot shy of going to state!)
Way to go!
